Each must be at least 110 words. DO NOT just agree or disagree with the person, or use a bunch of filibuster. The content must be substantive and provide new useful information
1)Chapter 3: Sockets and Processors
This chapter is well put on how the socket refers to a physical connector on a computer motherboard that accepts a single physical chip. Many motherboards can have multiple sockets that can in turn accept multi core chips. In the chapter I read that the as holes aligned in uniform rows around the socket to receive the pins on the bottom of the processor. Early Intel processors used PGA sockets, but they caused problems because the small delicate pins on the processor were easily bent as the processor was installed in the socket. Some newer Intel mobile processors, including the Second Generation Core i3, Core i5, and Core i7 processors, use the PGA988 socket or the FCPGA988 socket in laptops. A land grid array (LGA) socket has blunt protruding pins on the socket that connect with lands or pads on the bottom of the processor. https://phoenix.vitalsource.com/#/books/9781305446…
2) Chapter 1 A+ Guide and Follow up Question
‘Firmware on the motherboard is used to enable or disable a connector, port, or component; control the frequency of the CPU, security features, and what happens when the PC first boots; and monitor various activities of the board.’ Todays motherboards probably use two types of firmware, UEFI and BIOS, however the motherboards can also use UEFI and BIOS for backwards compatibility with older devices.
‘What key(s) did you press to access BIOS setup?’. On the laptop computer I am using, which is an Acer, striking F2 allows for access to the BIOS setup. On my previous computer, it required me to use F12 to begin my ‘one-time boot menu’, challenge to anyone who can guess what brand my last computer was!
3) Chapter 4 Memory and CPU
Selection of a CPU and the associated RAM is actually slave to the motherboard that is inn your system. For example if you are utilizing a motherboard that has a AM3+ socket and DDR3 support then you are only limited to utilizing the CPUs that have that socket type and the RAM that is DDR3 compatible. There really isn’t anything you can do to change anything about the way that works other than get a different motherboard and adhere to the socket type and DDR configuration that is offered by the new motherboard.
4) Chapter 4 SD RAM
The DIMM (dual inline memory module) uses 64-bit data path, and it gets its name because it has independent pins on opposite sides of the module. Earlier DIMM used the 128-bit data path which is obsolete now. The speed of the previous DIMMs was measured in nanoseconds (ns) because that’s how long it took for the module to read and write data. It is interesting to know that the earlier DIMMs did not run in sync with the system clock because of their slow speed that they were not capable of keeping up with the cloak. Then the technology evolved and the first DIMM to run in sync with the system clock and the processor used two notches and 168 pins, and its speed was measured in MHz like the speed of the processor and bus speeds. This DIMM was known as the synchronous DRAM (SDRAM).
5) Chapter 5 PSU Support
When building a system it is always crucial that you pay attention to the wattage information for each piece of hardware that is being used within the system so that the correct PSU is selected to provide an appropriate amount of power to the system. If you choose a power system that doesn’t provide enough power to each device within the system then the system may start up and run but once any part of the system requests more power the PSU will shut down and thus cause the entire system to crash.
6) Discussion Question: internal PC Hardware Installation and Configuration
Research the steps needed to update the Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) and considerations for installing and testing each of the following:
7) Discussion Question: In all Honesty
To be entirely honest, BIOS updates are not needed to be done manually for any of these components that have been listed above. When looking at modern computing systems you have to acknowledge that we are now in the 8th and 9th generation of hardware which is more sophisticated than previous versions. This meaning that most of these parts are some kind of plug and play. The BIOS recognizes that changes have been made and in turn reacts by utilizing known drivers that are compatible with the new hardware until the system establishes a network access point, then at that point the BIOS will conduct a background update without the need of the user to administrate. I’m not trying to argue that there is never a need to do manual updates however, with the technology available to us today it seems like an archaic practice.
8) Discussion Question Reply
Hands down this is what I love. Its nothing like taking apart a computer or up grading it to a spec of your choice. I also know that when your taking the A+ this is a big subject that they harp on well at least when I took it. Know people have SD hard drives which is way better than having a regular hard drive it can be bigger in storage and also if you drop the PC usually it will continue t work long as the mice and keyboard devise are still in tact. because a SD hard has no spinning parts
