Team Communication and Motivation

Writing Structure

As you prepare to post your initial discussion this week, I wanted to give you an outline of sorts that you can use to construct your discussions. Now, outlining is something we do more for written assignments…but it can be useful in discussions as well so that we place equal emphasis on all points and give equal coverage to all aspects of the discussion.

· Introduction – just a few sentences here to ‘say what you will say’ (no need for cited support)

· Paragraph 1 – tell us about the team you have in mind and include points about their “level of motivation, their communication patterns, and whether they were outcome-focused or activity-focused” – be concise but no need for cited support

· Paragraph 2 – respond to “explain how motivation and communication can impact a team’s performance positively” – be concise and use cited support

· Paragraph 3 – respond to “explain how motivation and communication can impact a team’s performance negatively” – be concise and use cited support

· Conclusion – just a few sentences to ‘tell us what you told us’ (no new information here and no need for cited support)
