Dark Fantasy- Short Story

Details
What do you feel is one of the biggest ethical issues in medicine? Why? What would you do to address the issue?
Discussion Questions (please answer two and respond to two of your fellow students’ posts): 1. In Lawrence’s “The Rocking-Horse Winner,” why do you think Paul gets his winning picks from his rocking horse? In what ways does this story remind you of a fairy tale or fable? What does it reveal about Paul, his mother, and their relationship? 2. What does Bradbury’s “The Veldt” suggest about the childish or subconscious mind? If that mind is granted too much power, such as through technology, what dangers might arise? Why do you think the nursery’s technologically created fantasies become finally real? (Incidentally, what children’s tale do the names Peter and Wendy make you think of?) 3. How are we to regard the little girl, Miriam, in Capote’s story? Is she real or imagined, or somehow both? What does she reveal about the protagonist, the grown woman named Miriam? 4. All three stories this week offer dark, disturbing glimpses into the subconscious mind. Which story do you find most effective in this regard? Why?
